Arole Cultural debuts at FLIP 2019 and, on it´s official programme, our chief editor Diego de Oxóssi will talk about the future of editorial market at House PublishNews! Take a look...
In recent years, publishers have struggling competed for the reader's time; large bookstores seems to collapse (not only here, it's good to say) but the distribution and marketing models for books seem exhausted and need to be revised.
Faced with this, the global book industry lives up to a big question mark: what will our future be like?
In order to answer these questions, Casa PublishNews in Paraty decided to hold the table. Taking the crystal ball out of the drawer: what´s the publishing market future?, which will be divided into two moments on Saturday morning (13). In the first part, which begins at 10:30 a.m., Luciana Melo (PublishNews) will conduct a talk that brings together three experts in clairvoyance: José Barrichello (PublishNews Podcast) will present the astral map of Brazilian industry, while Camila Cabete (Kobo) and Diego de Oxóssi (Arole Cultural) will make their predictions on tarot and cowrie shell divinations about the futureof brazilian publishing industry.
In the second part of the table, starting at 11:30 am, Bruno Mendes (#coisadelivreiro / PublishNews), Camila Cabete (Kobo) and Mariana Rolier (Storytel) are going to do trend analysis that will point the way to industry in the coming years. Bruno will talk about how new management technologies can change the business model as we know it today; Camila will talk about digital trends and Mariana about how the publisher should reposition itself not as publisher of books but publisher of content, regardless of the support that this content will be made available to the public (see the case of the Orphan Black series).
Going by the same way, on Thursday (11), there is the Tin-Tin bit-bit chat: what digital is doing for the publishing market and what it has not done yet, with Raphael Secchin (Bibliomundi) and Leonardo Neto (PublishNews). The chat will serve as a warm-up for the traditional Happy Hour of the PublishNews House.
The House welcomes UmLivro platform, that will also be our partner this year. In addition to the print-on-demand solution, PublishNews House has the support of Livraria do Comendador, Zel Café, Bibliomundi, Metabooks, Frankfurt Book Fair and Aller publishers, Official Press Office of the State of São Paulo, Labrador, Primavera Editorial and Tordesilhas. The House, which is part of Flip's list of official homes for the first time, has a new address: Rua Dr. Pereira, 396, one block from Plaza da Matriz, the epicenter of the official FLIP schedule.
