Waldete Tristão é Doutora em Educação pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP, 2017) na área de Didática, Teorias de Ensino e Práticas e Escolares e Mestre em Educação: História, Política e Sociedade pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP,2006). Atuou profissionalmente por mais de 30 anos na educação pública municipal de São Paulo, em EMEIs e creches, como professora, coordenadora pedagógica e formadora de professores e gestores em educação básica.
Desde 2004, dedica-se como consultora do Centro de Estudos das Relações de Trabalho e Desigualdades em projetos relacionados à temática das relações étnico-raciais e infância, envolvendo professores e gestão. Além disso, também colaborou a organização e realização do "Ilu na Mesa", um dos projetos formativos do Ilu Oba de Min - Educação, Cultura e Arte Negra.
